Blackbuck Antelope

The blackbuck, also known as the Indian antelope, is a medium-sized antelope native to India and Nepal. It inhabits grassy plains and lightly forested areas with perennial water sources. It stands up to 29 to 33 inches high at the shoulder. Males weigh 88 lbs on average.



While classified as "near threatened" in their native India, Texas populations have thrived, contributing to the species' preservation.
They are very fast, reaching speeds of up to 50 mph.
Behavior: Highly territorial, often gathering in open grasslands
